The Decision to Sell
After many years of success within the French ISV market, Akuiteo leaders wanted to ensure long-term growth for the company, while remaining committed to their employees and customers. Additionally, leaders wanted to begin succession planning prior to their eventual retirement, but wanted to seek a buyer that could allow them to remain as leaders of the business for years prior to their planned retirement. Akuiteo began looking for a buyer that could support them in growing their business sustainably, while providing autonomy for the company to continue building on the brand identity it had developed.
After Volaris Group began engaging with the company, Akuiteo was quickly excited by its buy-and-hold philosophy and focus on long-term success of its portfolio companies. Given the leaders’ goals of building its customer base and retaining its brand identity, Volaris’ strategy of providing independence to its businesses while supporting them with the financial backing a large publicly-traded company, made it the perfect fit as an acquirer. Further, Volaris’ large portfolio and experience in the software industry provided Akuiteo stability and highly beneficial insights and best practices.
Since joining the Volaris family, Akuiteo has seen great success in growing its customer base and developing its relationships with its clients. The company launched two new offerings, HelpDesk Unlimited and Permanent Assistance Contract, to provide greater service and finance capabilities to its customers. This has enabled Akuiteo to achieve its first-year profitability and growth targets.
Post-acquisition, employees at Akuiteo have also seen opportunities for development. Leadership quickly implemented new training materials provided by Volaris and began working with their teams on developing objectives to strengthen performance. Looking forward, Akuiteo intends to expand the functional scope of its solutions and continue building its customer base worldwide.
